Our Story Moving Upstream
Upstream Impact Solutions Consulting was founded on the belief that transformational change starts at the root. After more than two decades working across public health, philanthropy, food systems, and spiritual care, Benjamin Perkins launched UISC to help organizations and leaders navigate complex challenges with purpose, clarity, and courage.
What began as a vision for deeper, more compassionate consulting has grown into a practice that bridges strategy and soul—supporting people-centered change that lasts.
Our work is grounded in fairness and possibility. Whether guiding long-term systems change, coaching reflective leaders, or facilitating strategic planning, we walk alongside clients to co-create new ways of working that are just, authentic, and aligned.

Meet Benjamin Perkins
(he/him)
Founder & Principal, Upstream Impact Solutions Consulting
Benjamin Perkins is a systems thinker, public health leader, and spiritual companion with over two decades of experience across health, philanthropy, food systems, and faith spaces. As the founder of Upstream Impact Solutions Consulting, he supports individuals and institutions in creating people-centered, values-driven change.
He is the architect of the FED Principle™—a framework centered on Fidelity, Equity, and Dignity—and has held senior roles including CEO of Wholesome Wave and VP at the American Heart Association. His approach blends strategy, soul, and lived experience to guide courageous, justice-rooted transformation.
Benjamin holds degrees from Harvard Divinity School, Antioch University, and UCLA, and has served on numerous civic boards. A Black gay man grounded in community and resilience, he brings fierce hope, clarity, and care to every space he leads.
